Quotes
How LoadX quotes work, what information you need and how to compare options.
How do I get a quote from LoadX?
Use the Get Instant Quote calculator with your real pickup and delivery locations, vehicle year/make/model and whether it runs. Pricing reflects live market conditions for that lane — not a published rate card. For context on what drives the number, see car shipping costs.
Why does LoadX not list flat shipping prices on the website?
Auto transport is a live market. Distance, vehicle size, open vs enclosed equipment, seasonality and carrier capacity all change what a load will pay. A fixed website number cannot know your lane. LoadX Solutions Inc is a licensed broker that quotes from current carrier availability so the price you approve can actually get covered.
What details do I need for an accurate quote?
Origin and destination ZIP codes or cities, vehicle year, make and model, running status, preferred equipment (open or enclosed) and your earliest available pickup date. Accurate details keep the quote honest; surprises at the curb can change price or equipment after booking.
Is a quote a guaranteed final price?
Your approved quote is the price for the shipment as described. It can change if the vehicle details change (for example a non-running unit quoted as running), if the route or stops change, or if you request a materially different pickup window during peak season. Ask your coordinator before you book if anything is uncertain.
Can I get quotes for both open and enclosed transport?
Yes. Compare open transport with enclosed options when you request pricing. Open is the most common choice for standard daily drivers; enclosed is often preferred for high-value, classic or low-clearance vehicles. Your coordinator can explain the tradeoffs for your specific vehicle.
Booking
Confirming your order, what happens next and how coordinator support works.
How do I book after I receive a quote?
Review the quote with your coordinator, confirm vehicle and contact details in writing, then authorize the booking. The full sequence is spelled out in How to Book with LoadX. Nothing is charged while we are still sourcing a carrier for your load.
Is LoadX a carrier or a broker?
LoadX Solutions Inc is a licensed auto transport broker (MC 1810077, USDOT 4555866). We arrange shipments with independent motor carriers who own and operate the trucks. We do not haul your vehicle on LoadX-owned equipment. That brokerage model is what gives you access to a nationwide carrier network instead of one fleet’s limited lanes.
Will I have the same contact after I book?
Yes. LoadX assigns coordinator support so routine updates are not bounced between unrelated agents. For general questions you can also reach Contact Support. Your coordinator remains the primary path once a shipment is active.
Can I change my dates after booking?
Often yes before a carrier is assigned. After assignment, changes depend on the carrier’s route and schedule and may affect price or require reassignment. Tell your coordinator as early as possible. See the pickup and delivery process for how windows are coordinated.
What happens between booking and pickup?
We offer your load to vetted carriers on that lane. When a qualified carrier accepts, you are notified with assignment details and next-step timing. The driver (or dispatcher) then coordinates a pickup window with you or your authorized contact. Read how auto transport works for the full industry sequence.
Pickup
Scheduling, access, who needs to be present and what happens on collection day.
How soon can my vehicle be picked up?
Typically within a few days of booking, depending on the lane, season and how flexible your window is. Major corridors often cover faster than rural routes. Expedited matching is available when you need a firmer date — ask your coordinator when you request a quote.
Do I get an exact pickup time?
You receive a pickup window rather than a single appointment time. Drivers work multiple stops and traffic, weather and hours-of-service rules move the schedule. The driver usually calls ahead — often the day before and again en route — to confirm. Details are covered in our pickup and delivery process guide.
Can the truck come to my house?
We arrange door-to-door pickup when legal and safe access allows. Full-size car carriers can be very long, so narrow streets, low branches, gated communities and tight cul-de-sacs may require meeting at a nearby retail lot a few minutes away. Share access notes when you book so the assigned carrier can plan correctly.
Does someone need to be present at pickup?
Yes. You or a nominated adult (18+) must release the vehicle, walk the inspection with the driver and sign the bill of lading. Give your coordinator their name and number in advance if you cannot be there. Never skip the walkaround — see vehicle inspection and the bill of lading.
How should I prepare the vehicle before the driver arrives?
Wash it, photograph every angle, remove personal items, leave about a quarter tank of fuel, check tires and battery, disable alarms and toll tags, and leave one key. Follow the full checklist in preparing your vehicle.
Delivery
Transit expectations, receiving the vehicle and what to do if plans change.
How long will transit take after pickup?
Plan using educational ranges — roughly regional moves in a few days and longer corridors toward a week or more coast to coast, depending on routing and conditions. Your coordinator confirms an estimated window when the carrier is assigned and tightens it as the truck moves. See transit times for distance-based guidance.
What should I do when the vehicle arrives?
Inspect it against the condition report from pickup — ideally in daylight — before you sign. Check panels, glass, wheels and the interior. If anything looks different, note it on the bill of lading, photograph it and tell your coordinator before final sign-off. The BOL guide explains why those notes matter.
What if I cannot be there for delivery?
Nominate someone over 18 to inspect, sign and pay any balance due on your behalf, and share their contact details with your coordinator in advance. Without an authorized person present, the driver typically cannot release the vehicle.
Can the delivery address change after the truck is en route?
Sometimes, if you tell us before the driver commits to the original destination and the new address is reasonably close. A significantly different location can change the carrier’s route and the price. Contact your coordinator immediately — or use Contact Support if you cannot reach them.
What happens if delivery is delayed?
Weather, traffic, mechanical issues and hours-of-service rules can move a delivery date. Your LoadX coordinator should communicate revised windows as soon as we know. Delays are uncommon relative to total volume, but clear communication about them should never be. Read more in transit times.
Pricing
What drives the number, how open vs enclosed compares and how to keep costs realistic.
What factors affect my car shipping price?
Distance, vehicle size and weight, running status, open vs enclosed equipment, seasonality, fuel conditions, rural vs urban access and how much carrier capacity exists on your corridor. LoadX does not invent fixed dollar rates. The full factor list is in car shipping costs.
Why is one broker's quote much cheaper than another?
Some quotes are set below the market to win the booking, then raised later when no carrier will take the load. A quote only matters if a carrier will accept it at that price. LoadX builds pricing from what your lane is genuinely paying so coverage is realistic.
Is open transport cheaper than enclosed?
Usually yes, because open trailers carry more vehicles and are more widely available. Enclosed adds weather and road-debris protection and is often preferred for specialty vehicles. Compare both when you get a quote, and review open transport for how standard moves typically run.
Are there hidden fees?
No. The quoted price is meant to be all-inclusive for the shipment as described — carrier payment, brokerage and the service you approved. Price changes only if the shipment itself changes. Ask your coordinator to walk through the number before you book if anything is unclear.
How can I keep my shipping cost more competitive?
Be flexible on pickup dates when you can, share accurate vehicle details up front, choose open transport when it fits the vehicle, and avoid peak-only timing if your schedule allows. Multi-vehicle moves can also price more efficiently per unit. Start with a live instant quote rather than guessing from generic ranges.
Insurance
Carrier cargo coverage, verification and what to do if something looks wrong at delivery.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Vehicles move under the transporting carrier’s cargo insurance while in that carrier’s care — not a blanket LoadX policy that replaces it. As your licensed broker, LoadX verifies carrier credentials before dispatch. This is educational overview, not a coverage guarantee. Read insurance and protection for how coverage conversations typically work.
How much cargo coverage do carriers typically carry?
Open carriers commonly carry cargo limits in a range such as roughly $100,000 to $250,000 across the load; enclosed carriers often carry substantially higher limits. Exact limits and exclusions vary by carrier and policy. We confirm credentials are appropriate for your booking before dispatch — ask your coordinator for the certificate if you need to review it.
Do I need my own auto insurance while the car ships?
Keep your personal policy active. Carrier cargo insurance is aimed at damage caused during transport under the carrier’s care; your own policy remains the right protection for many situations outside that. Some comprehensive policies extend during shipping — check with your insurer. Prep tips that protect your claim path are in preparing your vehicle.
What if my vehicle is damaged in transit?
Note the damage on the delivery inspection before final sign-off, photograph it and contact your LoadX coordinator immediately so the carrier claim process can begin. Documentation at pickup and delivery is the foundation. See vehicle inspection and the bill of lading and insurance and protection.
Are personal items inside the car covered?
Usually not. Most carriers exclude or severely limit personal belongings left in the vehicle. Remove items before pickup. Carriers are licensed to haul vehicles, not household goods. Confirm anything exceptional with your coordinator in advance — not at the curb.
Payments
When you pay, how deposits work and what methods are typically accepted.
When do I pay for transport?
Nothing is charged while LoadX is still sourcing a carrier. Once a specific carrier is assigned and your pickup window is confirmed, a deposit is typically collected; the balance is commonly paid to the driver at delivery by cash, certified funds or an agreed electronic method. Dealer and business accounts may be invoiced on terms — ask when you book via How to Book with LoadX.
Do I pay LoadX or the driver?
Payment splits depend on the booking. Brokerage-related amounts are handled through LoadX; many consumer shipments pay a remaining balance to the carrier’s driver at delivery. Your coordinator confirms the exact split and accepted methods before pickup so there are no surprises at the curb.
What payment methods are accepted?
Accepted methods vary by shipment and carrier, but commonly include card for deposits, and cash, certified funds or approved electronic payment for balances at delivery. Confirm with your coordinator for your specific booking. For billing questions on an active shipment, use Contact Support.
Is my payment refundable if I cancel?
Cancellation terms depend on how far the shipment has progressed — especially whether a carrier has already been assigned and routed. Tell your coordinator as early as possible. Review the terms provided at booking, and reach out through Contact Support if you need written clarification before you cancel.
Will I get an invoice or receipt?
Yes. LoadX provides booking confirmation and payment documentation for amounts collected through the brokerage. Keep your bill of lading and payment receipts from delivery as well. For commercial accounts, ask about invoicing when you request a quote or contact sales through the for businesses hub.
Carriers
How LoadX selects carriers, what we verify and how assignment works.
How does LoadX choose which carrier moves my vehicle?
We match your shipment to carriers that run your lane, then verify active operating authority, insurance credentials and safety history before dispatch. Price is one factor; reliability on that route matters. LoadX is the broker arranging the move — the assigned motor carrier owns and operates the truck. More on our approach is in Why Choose LoadX.
Does LoadX own the trucks?
No. LoadX Solutions Inc is a licensed transportation broker. Independent carriers own and operate the equipment. We arrange the shipment, verify credentials and keep a coordinator accountable for communication from quote through delivery.
Can I see the carrier's insurance certificate?
Yes. Ask your coordinator and we can share the certificate of insurance for the assigned carrier. Reviewing it is especially useful for high-value vehicles. Coverage education is in insurance and protection.
When will I know which carrier is assigned?
After your details are confirmed and the load is offered to the network. Timing depends on lane demand, equipment type and pickup flexibility. Your coordinator sets expectations for your route and notifies you when a qualified carrier accepts. Follow the steps in How to Book with LoadX.
What if I have a problem with the driver or carrier?
Contact your LoadX coordinator immediately. As your broker we stay in the communication loop and help escalate issues with the carrier. Do not wait until delivery if something feels wrong mid-route. You can also reach Contact Support if you cannot reach your coordinator.
Preparation
Getting the vehicle ready so pickup day is uneventful and documentation is clear.
What is the most important prep step before pickup?
Clean the exterior so existing marks are visible, take your own photos from every angle, remove personal belongings and complete the inspection walkaround with the driver before you sign. The full checklist is in preparing your vehicle.
How much fuel should be in the tank?
About a quarter tank. Enough to load, unload and drive a short distance after delivery, but not so much that it adds unnecessary weight. Leave only one key with the driver unless your coordinator agrees otherwise.
Can I leave personal belongings in the car?
Avoid it. Personal items are generally not covered by carrier cargo insurance, and many carriers limit or refuse household goods inside the vehicle. If a small amount in the trunk is ever allowed, agree it with LoadX in advance — never assume at the curb. See preparing your vehicle.
What if my vehicle is modified, lowered or does not run?
Tell us at quote time. Lift kits, oversized tires, lowered suspension, splitters and non-running status all affect which trailer can carry the vehicle and may change price. Low-clearance vehicles are often better suited to enclosed equipment with a lift gate. Start with accurate details on the quote form.
Do I need to disable alarms and remove toll tags?
Yes. Disable aftermarket alarms, remove or deactivate toll tags and retract antennas or loose accessories that can catch wind or interfere with loading. Those steps are part of the standard prep guide and help pickup stay on schedule.
Tracking
How status updates work and who to call when you need an ETA.
How do I track my vehicle during transport?
Request updates through your LoadX coordinator by phone, text or email — you receive their details when the shipment is dispatched. They gather driver progress and share revised windows. You should not have to hunt for status when destination plans are changing. See How to Book with LoadX for where tracking fits in the sequence.
Will I get GPS tracking on every shipment?
Update methods vary by carrier. Some provide location tools; others communicate by phone through the dispatcher. Your coordinator is the consistent channel either way. Ask at assignment what update cadence to expect for your specific load.
Who do I call if I need a tighter delivery ETA?
Start with your assigned coordinator. They can request an updated window from the carrier and relay it to you. If you cannot reach them, use Contact Support. Realistic planning ranges by distance are outlined in transit times.
Why did my estimated delivery date change?
Shared trailers, weather, traffic, mechanical issues and hours-of-service rules can move timing after pickup. Estimates tighten as the truck progresses. Your coordinator should communicate changes promptly. Delays are part of freight reality — silence about them should not be.
Can the shipper and receiver both get updates?
Yes. Tell your coordinator who is authorized at each end and share their contact details. Both parties can receive timing updates, but only an authorized adult can complete inspection and sign-off at pickup or delivery. Process details are in the pickup and delivery process guide.
